AUBURN, Ala. - Junior Tim Puetz and sophomore Alex Stamchev advance in doubles main draw at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
The pair topped Vanderbilt's Adam Baker and Alex Zotov, 8-4, to advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw. Puetz and Stamchev will face Moritz Baumann and Marek Michallcka of Wisconsin on Saturday.
Both competed in singles play on the day, but did not advance. Puetz battled Brennan Boyajian of North Carolina, seeing the first and second set finish in a tie-break. The Vsiugen, Germany, native fell to Boyajian, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Stamchev competed in the main singles draw consolation, taking on Washington's Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan. The Pleven, Bulgaria, product lost 3-6, 2-6.
