NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The second day of the SEC Fall Classic didn’t fare as well as the first day for the Auburn University men’s tennis team as the remaining three Tigers players in the singles draw were ousted before the end of the day’s play.

Senior Daniel Cochrane and junior Lukas Ollert did win one singles match today, advancing to the Round of 16, but were stopped in their next match by their opponents as they could not come out on top for a third-straight match, dropping both of their singles records to 2-1 for the season.

Cochrane, who came into the tournament as the No. 15 seed and ranked No. 105 in the nation, won his second-straight match of the week, defeating Florida’s Gordon Watson, 6-3, 6-2. However, Cochrane could not overcome Beck Pennington of Kentucky in the Round of 16 as the score of 6-4, 6-3, took the Englishman out of the singles draw.

As for Ollert, he, too, cruised through his first match of the day against Tennessee’s Sean Karl, 6-4, 6-0, but was topped in the next match by Vanderbilt’s Gonzales Austin, 6-2, 6-2. Austin was the No. 6 seed in the tournament, while Ollert was the No. 10 seed.

Sophomore Joseph Van Dooren also played his Round of 32 match today against Brandon Fickey of Tennessee, but had his singles record drop to 2-1 like his teammates after suffering a 6-2, 6-1, straight set loss.

Freshman Dante Saleh, who lost his first round match yesterday, played in the consolation bracket today and advanced to the third round after winning two matches on Friday to bounce back from Thursday’s loss. Saleh faced Ben Barnette of South Carolina in the first round and scored a straight set victory, 6-2, 6-2, his first collegiate win as a Tiger.

Saleh then faced Mississippi State veteran Malte Stropp in round two of consolation and, again, came out on top with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. With the two wins, Saleh pushes his record for the year to 2-1, matching his three other teammates at the tournament. The California native will play Arkansas’ Mike Nott tomorrow in the third round of consolation with first serve going up at 10:30 a.m.

Saleh will be the only Tiger still in action tomorrow as first match for the day will be in the doubles main draw starting at 9 a.m. Live stats will not be available for day three of the SEC Fall Classic, but a full recap with complete Auburn results can be found on AuburnTigers.com following the day's play.
