Robbert Lathouwers is coming off a very successful career at Auburn that saw him advance to both the NCAA singles and doubles championships as a senior. He is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Tiger men's tennis team.
As a Senior
Fall 2006:Finished the fall with a 3-2 singles record ... Advanced to the third round of the ITA Region 3 Indoor Tournament ... Amassed a 5-2 record in doubles with partners Alex Schweizer and Lucas Marsoun ... Advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Region 3 Indoor Tournament with Marsoun.
Spring 2007: Finished his senior campaign with by advancing to the NCAA Singles Tournament, falling in the first round to Ohio State's Steven Moneke (6-3, 4-6, 6-4)... Ranked No. 52 in the country in the final spring 2007 rankings... A first-team All-SEC selection... Went 17-6 overall (9-2 SEC) in singles play... Posted an 8-4 record over opponents ranked in the top 100... Rattled off a 12-match winning streak to start the season... Highest-ranked win was a 6-3, 6-4 victory over #29 Bobby Cameron (UT)... Played primarily at No. 2 in singles with a 14-5 record and went a perfect 3-0 in three appearances at No. 1... Had a 11-11 overall doubles record, 3-8 in SEC play... Partnered with Lukas Marsoun, Alex Schweizer and Alexey Tsyrenov in doubles... Posted doubles wins over three ranked opponents while teamed with Schweizer, earning a No. 43 national ranking in the final standings.
As a Junior
Spring 2006: Opened the season with seven straight singles and doubles victories ... Finished with a 14-9 overall record (4-6 SEC), including a 5-2 mark at the No. 1 spot ... Defeated No. 21 ranked Ken Skupski of LSU at the No. 1 position ... Captured win over Florida State's Jonathas Sucupira in the first round of the NCAA Tournament ... Earned a 16-9 doubles record, including a 15-9 ledger with Lukas Marsoun ... Also competed with Hunter Mills against Central Alabama Community College.
As a Sophomore
Spring 2005: Finished the season 10-9 in singles and 9-9 in doubles with partners Nick Lane, Bernardo Bachino, Tom George, Alex Schweizer and Gabor Zoltan Pelva ... Advanced to the second round of SEC Indoor Championship in both singles and doubles.
Fall 2004: Began the fall season ranked 104th by ITA ... Earned a 5-4 singles record and a 6-3 doubles record with partners Nick Lane, Alex Schweizer and Gabor Zoltan Pelva ... Won the doubles title at Arizona State's Thunderbird Invitational with partner Zoltan Pelva by defeating Arizona State's Christopher Biro and Nick Hegarty in the finals, 8-5 ... Won the consolation doubles title at the ITA All-American Championships with partner Alex Schweizer, after defeating Boise State's Thomas Schoeck and Luke Shields, 8-4, in the finals.
As a Freshman
Spring 2004: Went 11-11 in singles play and was 6-5 in the SEC ... Finished with a 13-9 doubles record with partners Gabor Zoltan Pelva, Rodrigo Minozzo and Robbins Taylor ... Went 10-6 in the No. 2 spot with Minozzo on the way to their impressive 11-8 doubles record.
Prior to Auburn: Attended K.A. Mortsel High School and played under coach Benny Van Houdt...was a Belgian National Champion...Finished third in European Championship for the 12 and under division.
