Michael Hebert shot a minus-15 to advance to the final stage
Former Auburn golfers Blayne Barber and Michael Hebert both advanced to the final stage of Tour School on Friday. The final stage will be held Dec. 12-17 at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
Hebert, from Cumming, Ga., carded a four-round minus-15, shooting 68-71-65-69--273 at the Shell Landing Golf Club in Gautier, Miss. Collecting 22 birdies and one eagle, he played the par-4's at minus-7 and the par-5s at minus-9, finishing tied for third in the event.
Barber, from Auburn, shot a 68-69-70-71--278 to finish tied for 12th at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla. He collected 17 birdies throughout his four rounds, including five in his third round, and played the par-3 holes at a combined minus-2 and the par-5's at a combined minus-11.
Barber advanced one year after disqualifying himself from second stage. Barber played on the 2011 U.S. Walker Cup team and was the NGA Tour's 2013 Rookie of the Year. He also made the cut in two of three PGA TOUR starts this year and had two top-10s in seven Web.com Tour starts.
Players who advance to the third and final stage of the Web.com Tour q-school are guaranteed at least conditional status on the Web.com Tour, which is the only pathway to the PGA TOUR.
