EL PASO, Texas – Auburn All-American Dominic Bozzelli tied for sixth at the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic on Tuesday after shooting a 9-under for the tournament held at the El Paso Country Club. Bozzelli began the final round tied for 13th but fired a 5-under 66 to move up six spots.
“It was nice to end strong with 66,” Bozzelli said. “There were a lot of positives this week, and I'm just going to try to build on this moving forward.”
Bozzelli, who began the day on the back-9, carded back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13 to move to 6-under for the tournament. After a bogey on No. 16, the Pittsford, N.Y., native birdied No. 18. After making the turn, Bozzelli shot a 3-under 33 on the front-9 after birdies on Nos. 2, 3 and 6.
“Playing in the Western Refining All-American tournament was a great experience, having the opportunity to compete against the best players in college golf,” Bozzelli continued. “My main focus throughout the week was to stay patient, and worry only about the things that I could control.”
Bozzelli and the 22nd-ranked Tigers return to action on Feb. 6-8 at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
