AUBURN - The 25th-ranked Auburn men's golf team will compete in its second tournament of the week in The Ridges Intercollegiate at the Ridges Golf and Country Club in Jonesborough, Tenn., Saturday and Sunday.
Sophomore All-SEC Patton Kizzire, who has a 70.67 stroke average after tying for 14th at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate Tuesday, will lead the Tigers in the No. 1 position. Junior Andrew Medley (72.67) will occupy the No. 2 slot followed by senior All-SEC Stuart Moore (72.83) at No. 3, freshman Glenn Northcutt (73.83) at No. 4 and sophomore Jay Moseley (73.33) at the No. 5 spot.
"It's going to be tough with a quick turnaround, but it gives us a chance to bounce back after an average showing in the Jerry Pate," said Auburn head coach Mike Griffin. "We struggled a little bit up there two years ago, so obviously we would like to improve on that this weekend.
"Only two of our five have played in the tournament before so it's going to be a challenge. This is a very talented field. We have several young guys and a good way to gain experience is to play against some of the best teams in the country."
The 15-team tournament features five ranked teams including No.
7 Tennessee, No. 11 Wake Forest, No. 21 TCU, No. 23 Alabama, No. 25 Auburn, host East Tennessee State, Florida State, Kent State, LSU, North Carolina, Northwestern, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and Virginia
Following Friday's practice round, Auburn will play 36 holes Saturday and 18 Sunday. Live scoring of the Ridges Intercollegiate can be found at www.golfstat.com.
