Fresh off a runner-up showing at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Sept. 21-22, the No. 20 Auburn men's golf team will play the Jerry Pate Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Old Overton Golf Club in Birmingham.
Auburn's five participants for the tournament will be Niclas Carlsson, Matt Gilchrest, Victor Henum, Jake Mondy and Daniel Stringfellow. Mondy has been Auburn's top finisher in each of its first two tournaments, finishing tied for fifth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and fifth at Wolf Run. So far this season Mondy has three rounds of par or better, three sub-par rounds and two rounds in the 60s and currently has a team-best 71.67 stroke average.
Gilchrest (72.67) and Stringfellow (74.00) each have had all six of their rounds counted while Carlsson (74.00) has counted five. Henum has a 72.67 stroke average but has appeared in just one tournament, competing as an individual at Wolf Run and finishing sixth.
Monday's first round begins at 7:30 a.m. and its second round tees off at 12:30 p.m.
Other teams competing will be UAB, Arkansas, Arizona, UNLV, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, UTSA, Charlotte, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Texas.
