The Auburn men's golf team will play in its second tournament of the season this weekend, traveling to Zionsville, Ind., to play in the Wolf Run Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Wolf Run Golf Club.
"Wolf Run is an excellent venue that the team is going to really enjoy," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "It will test all parts of our game and we're looking forward to the opportunity to compete. It's going to be a fun weekend and we are well-prepared."
Making the trip for Auburn this weekend will be senior Niclas Carlsson, junior Dan Stringfellow, sophomore Jake Mondy and freshmen Matt Gilchrest, Victor Henum and Will Long.
Carlsson, Gilchrest, Long, Mondy and Stringfellow all played in the team's opening tournament, a sixth-place finish at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Sept. 6-7 at The Farm Golf Club in Dalton, Ga. Mondy led all Auburn golfers with a fifth-place finish, shooting 75-69-70--214 while Gilchrest tied for 12th with a 72-73-71--216 showing.
This will be Auburn's first trip to Wolf Run, which is a par-71 course (35-36). The 54-hole event will begin with 36 holes on Saturday followed by 18 on Sunday.
Following this weekend's tournament, Auburn will take a weekend off from competition before returning to tournament action Oct. 7-8 at the Jerry Pate Invitational at Old Overton Golf Club in Birmingham.
