Junior Michael Johnson has been listed among the Top-50 Male Players to Watch as Golf World continues its 2013-14 College Preview.
Johnson, from Birmingham, was singled out on the heels of his play last year in which he counted 37 or 39 rounds and had a 71.77 first round average. His best finish was a second-place showing at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate, where he shot a three-round 209 (-1) as Auburn claimed a third-place finish. He followed that up with a tie for second at the U.S. Collegiate with a three-round 213 (-3), tying for second.
In all Johnson had 17 rounds at par or better and finished four tournaments under par en route to an overall 72.85 stroke average. On the year he carded five rounds in the 60s and accumulated seven top 20 finishes on the year.
Auburn's first team competition of the season will take place at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on The Farm in Dalton, Ga., Sept. 6-8.
