Daniel Stringfellow ties for low amateur at Illinois Open

Auburn golfer Dan Stringfellow tied for low amateur at the 65th Illinois Open Championship after finishing with a 54-hole total of even-par.

Played at The Glen Club in Glenview, Ill., Stringfellow shot 70-69-77--216 to finish six strokes behind champion Brad Hopfinger from Lake Forest, Ill. The final round was contested on Wednesday, July 23.

Stringfellow, from Roselle, Ill., will be a senior at Auburn this fall. He has had a very impressive summer so far, finishing third at the Illinois State Amateur a week ago and qualifying for the US Amateur Championship. The US Amateur will be played Aug. 11-17 at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Highlands Course).
