Auburn golfers Niclas Carlsson and Daniel Stringfellow were each named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
Carlsson, who graduated this past spring, had a team-best 71.18 stroke average in 39 rounds. A native of Enybyberg, Sweden, he collected five top-five finishes, including a tie for first at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate and a tie for fifth at the SEC Championships. This is the second straight season he has earned the distinction of All-America Scholar from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Stringfellow, who will be a senior this fall, had a 73.23 stroke average in 39 rounds. A native of Roselle, Ill., he collected seven rounds in the 60s throughout the year and had four top-20 finishes, including a season-best fourth-place showing at the Tiger Invitational
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America status and individuals must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.
