Jason Dufner Cards Three Consecutive Rounds In The 60s; Ties For 11th In Milwaukee

AUBURN - Former Tigers Jason Dufner and John Huston both had solid showings at the PGA Tour US Bank Championship in Milwaukee this weekend while John Rusk made the final 36 holes of the Nationwide Tour Price Cutter Charity Championship. Dufner (70-63-69-67--269), a four-year letterman at Auburn, carded three consecutive rounds in the 60s to close out his second 2008 PGA Tour top-25 finish at the par-70 Brown Deer Park Golf Club in Milwaukee. After opening with a first round 70, Dufner responded with a 7-under 63, complements of six birdies and an eagle to just one bogey on the day. Starting the fourth round tied for 12th at 8-under and just three shots off the lead, Dufner opened with a bogey on No. 4 but stormed back with four consecutive birdies. Shooting even through the remaining 10 holes, Dufner finished the tournament tied for 11th at 11-under par. The tie for 11th is the ninth top-25 finish in a PGA Tour event in Dufner's career, bringing his 2008 earnings to $208,786 and his career total to $1,985,517. Auburn alum and PGA Tour veteran John Huston (71-63-68-70--272) also carded a round of 63 on his way to a tie for 37th at the US Bank. On Friday, Huston fired six back-nine birdies that led to an impressive nine-hole total of 30 and went on to card a 7-under 63 for the day. Huston entered the final day tied with Dufner at 8-under but was unable to break par, slipping to 37th. Former Tigers Jon Rusk and Reid Edstrom both competed at the Price Cutter Championship July 12-21 at the par-72 Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield, Mo. Rusk (72-65-71-72--280) tied for 54th shooting an 8-under 280 while Edstrom (69-71-140) missed the 36-hole cut by one stroke. Dufner returns to action July 24-27 at the RBC Canadian Open at the par-71 Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario. Edstrom, along with former Tiger Gary Christian, is set to compete in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational July 21-27 at the par-71 Ohio State University Scarlett Course in Columbus, Ohio.
