Michael Johnson and Will Long each tied for 12th, Matt Gilchrest finished 39th and incoming freshman Ben Schlottman finished tied for 37th as the Auburn golf quartet competed at the 2014 Dogwood Invitational at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga., over the weekend.
Johnson, who redshirted this past season at Auburn, shot 76-67-67-66--276 while Long, who will be a sophomore this upcoming season, shot 69-67-68-72--276 as both finished at 12-under.
Johnson eagled the par-5, 485-yard ninth hole during Saturday's third round and finished the tournament 8-under on the par-5s and 2-under on both the par-3s and par-4s. Long would eagle the par-5, 511-yard seventh in the first round and played both the par-4s and par-5s at 8-under.
Gilchrest, who will also be a sophomore next year, shot 71-67-69-78--285 to finish at 3-under for the tournament. Over the first three rounds he had carded 16 birdies against five bogeys and one double bogey, playing the second round bogey-free.
Schlottman shot 70-68-74-72--284 to finish 4-under. He shot a combined 10-under on the par-4's and par-5's, recording an an eagle on the par-4, 467-yard first hole in the first round after starting on the 10th tee.
