AUBURN - First team All-SEC golfer Jay Moseley was named honorable mention All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America on June 6, becoming the 14th golfer in Auburn history to earn such a distinction.

Moseley led all Tigers in seven tournaments in 2007-08 with a stroke average of 71.83, the fifth lowest single-season average in school history.

"He's in some pretty good company," said Griffin. "Going down that All-American list you are going to some big names.

"Jay had an outstanding senior year and he deserves every honor he gets. I know he's happy and we couldn't be more proud of him."

Moseley also carded 18 sub-par rounds on the season, just one shy of the school record held by Kevin Haefner (2001-02). In a four-event period, stretching from the Jerry Pate Invitational to the Seminole Intercollegiate, he carded 11-of-12 sub-par rounds.

At the 2007 Jerry Pate, Moseley placed fifth and broke the school record for low 54-hole shot total with his 201. He also holds the Auburn record for lowest 54-hole score in relation to par (-14), a mark he set at the 2006 John Burns Intercollegiate in Wahiawa, Hawaii.

Moseley was recently voted first team All-SEC and awarded the Brad Smith SEC Community Service award. He was voted as Team Co-Captain for the past three seasons by his teammates and built an active record of volunteer work in and around the Auburn community with such organizations as Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, College Golf Fellowship and numerous Food Drives.

He was a member of the SEC Good Works Team for 2005, 2006 and 2007 and has not only been the Golf Team representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, but also served as treasurer in 2004 and chairman in 2005. In 2005, Moseley was nominated for National SAAC Representative for SEC and was on the 2008 FCA Leadership Team.

Moseley is the 12th golfer under Griffin to receive All-American honors. This marks the 16th occasion an Auburn golfer under Griffin has received such a distinction. Auburn greats Jimmy Green (1990-92) and Lee Williams (2002-05) earned All-American honors in three consecutive seasons.

Moseley will remain at Auburn as a graduate assistant to head coach Mike Griffin for the 2008-09 season.
