AUBURN -- Auburn senior Dominic Bozzelli and sophomore Michael Johnson were named to the Division I PING All-Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.
“I am very proud of Dominic and Michael for being named to the All-Region Team,” Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. “They both had excellent seasons and put the work in to be great. They are great representatives of Auburn University and Auburn Golf.”
Bozzelli closed out the season with back-to-back tied for second finishes at the NCAA Columbus Regional and the NCAA Championship. Bozzelli’s finish at the NCAA Championship was the highest by an Auburn golfer since Lee Williams was runner-up at the 2003 Championship. The Pittsford, N.Y., native led Auburn with nine top-20 finishes including a win at the Amer Ari Invitational.
Johnson posted a stellar sophomore season with seven top-20 finishes including runner-up finishes at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate and the U.S. Collegiate. Johnson tied for seventh at the NCAA Columbus Regional with a 3-over 216. The Birminham, Ala., native led the Tigers in rounds at par or better with 17.
