Niclas Carlsson and Matt Gilchrest were each voted Second Team All-SEC by a vote of the league's 14 head golf coaches, it was announced on Thursday. Gilchrest was also one of five players to earn SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

"Nic and Matt are both very deserving of these honors," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "I am very proud of them. They have worked very diligently and it has shown in their play all year.

Carlsson, from Enebyberg, Sweden, carries a 71.03 stroke average into next week's NCAA Regional, which Auburn is hosting at the Auburn University Club. His stroke average is sixth-lowest in the SEC. In 33 rounds he has shot 21 rounds at par-or-better, 16 sub-par rounds and 11 rounds in the 60s. He tied for first at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, finished runner-up at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate and the UK Bluegrass Invitational, was third at the Tiger Invitational and tied for fifth at the SEC Championships.

Carlsson, a senior, is on the All-SEC Second Team for the second time in his career, also earning the award in 2012. He was also a SEC All-Freshman selection in 2011.

Gilchrest, from Southlake, Texas, has a 71.50 stroke average in 30 rounds and has recorded 18 rounds at par-or-better, 14 sub-par rounds and eight rounds in the 60s. His stroke average is ninth in the SEC and the second-best among SEC freshman. He won the UK Bluegrass Invitational, tied for third at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate and tied for 13th at the SEC Championships.

Under Clinard, who came to Auburn in 2009, Auburn has produced two First Team All-SEC selections, six Second Team All-SEC selections and four SEC All-Freshman Team selections.

All-SEC honors were chosen by the league's head coaches. Ties were not broken.
