Former Tigers In The Pros

AUBURN - It has been an active two weeks for Auburn golfers in the professional ranks with a top-10 PGA event finish and three top-15s at the NGA Hooters Tour Savannah Lakes Classic.

Roland Thatcher, a 2000 Auburn graduate of political science and criminal justice, tied for 84th at the Wachovia Championship on May 1-4 with a 74-71-78--223. The previous weekend, Thatcher carded a 69-68-72-70--279 at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship in a tie for seventh, just six shots off tournament champion Adam Scott.

At the Nationwide Tour South Georgia Classic on May 1-4, former Tigers Reid Edstrom (71-72-72-73--288) and Gary Christian (71-74-72-72--289) finished tied for 41st and 45th, respectively. At last week's Henrico County Open, Christian (69-67-71-72--279) tied for 17th followed by Jason Dufner (71-73--144) tied for 84th.

Three former Tigers finished in the top-15 of the NGA Hooters Tour Savannah Lakes Classic on April 21-27th. Andrew Medley led all Tigers with a 13-under 71-69-70-65--275 to finish tied for 6th. Will Claxton (69-67-74-68--278) and Jay Mundy (68-68-70-72--278) both tied for 15th. Medley, starting the final day in a tie for 28th, leaped ahead 22 spots thanks to a brilliant final round 65 - the lowest round of the day.

In the Tarheel Tour Cabarrus Classic on April 30-May 2, Scott Weatherly carded a 71-71-70--212 to tie for 14th. Stuart Moore, fresh off a top-6 finish at the Sapora Open, carded a 71-70-74--215 to tie for 27th.
