Auburn has 12 golfers currently competing on professional circuits, nine of which have seen action in 2008.
On the PGA Tour, former Tiger and 2007 Nationwide Tour runner-up Roland Thatcher ('00) has jumped to a solid start, making the cut in five of 11 events with a 70.70 scoring average. Thatcher carded a third round 61 and tied for ninth at the Mayakoba Golf Classic February 24 to earn $98,000, upping his yearly earnings to $254,598.
Also on the PGA Tour, John Huston ('82) has competed in five events, making the cut at the Sony Open. Over the course of his professional career, Huston has made the cut in 341 of 520 events and accumulated earnings of $14,280,270.
Jason Dufner ('00) has appeared at three PGA and three Nationwide events in 2008, making the cut in two of each. Dufner's top performance came in a 71-70-67-73--281 to tie for 22nd at the Louisiana Open. To date, Dufner has taken home $1,797,680 in winnings since leaving The Plains.
Gary Christian ('95) has competed in five 2008 Nationwide events, finishing in the top-25 twice. Christian's best finish was a 74-67-67-72--281 to tie with Dufner for 22nd at the Louisiana Open, leaving with $4,800 in earnings.
Other Auburn golfers on the Nationwide Tour who have yet to compete in 2008 are Reid Edstrom('98), John Rusk ('00) and Lee Williams ('04).
Scott Weatherly ('00) is currently in seventh on the 2008 Tarheel Tour money list with $18,100 in earnings after three consecutive top-10 finishes.
On the 2008 NGA Hooter's Tour, four former Tigers are making their marks. Will Claxton ('05) has earned $14,586 and is in 13th on the money list. Claxton's best finish was a tie for third at the Michelob Ultra Classic. Andrew Medley ('07) has earned $4,779, Bryant MacKellar ('98) has earned $1,401 and Jay Hobby ('96) has earned $1,189.
