Nick Clinard's team is looking for a third straight top-three finish at the SEC Championships
Ranked No. 26 in the Golfstat rankings, Auburn golf heads to the SEC Men's Golf Championships in search of a third straight top-three finish at the highly competitive event.
"We are looking forward to it," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "It's the best league in the country and it's a great test, a great golf course and a great venue."
The Championships, which run from Friday through Sunday, will be held at the Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga., for the fifth straight season. The course is a par-70, 6,991-yard layout.
"We have been playing great," Clinard said. "We won three of our last five tournaments and we beat a very good Florida State team in match play this past weekend. I think it showed that we can compete at the highest level and we're looking forward to a chance to win this weekend."
Auburn last won the SEC Championship in 2002 but it was the runner-up in 2012 and third in 2013.
Auburn will tee off at 9:10 a.m. ET on Friday alongside South Carolina and Kentucky.
Auburn has three of the top-150 Golfstat players competing for it in senior Niclas Carlsson (No. 77), freshman Matt Gilchrest (No. 88) and sophomore Jake Mondy (No. 127).
Carlsson has a 71.30 scoring average, Gilchrest a 71.74 scoring average and Mondy a 72.27 scoring average.
Alabama is first in the Golfstat rankings, Georgia is No. 6, Vanderbilt is No. 15, Texas A&M is No. 16, Arkansas is No., 21,LSU is No. 22, South Carolina is No. 24 and Kentucky is No. 32.
