Having won three of the last four tournaments it has participated it, No. 19 Auburn golf will play in the UK Bluegrass Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13, at the University Club in Lexington, Ky.
"We are looking forward to playing in the UK Bluegrass Invitational and getting back to competition," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "The guys have been very focused and are ready to compete."
Niclas Carlsson, Matt Gilchrest, Jake Mondy, Will Long and Dan Stringfellow will comprise Auburn's team and Ryan Benton will play as an individual.
Carlsson, who is ranked No. 57 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, has been Auburn's top finisher in each of Auburn's tournament wins this season, placing second at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Feb. 17-18, third at the Tiger Invitational March 10-11 and tying for first at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate March 23-25. He has a 71.41 stroke average and has six top-20 finishes overall.
Gilchrest is No. 94 in the rankings and has a 72.08 stroke average, fining in the top 10 twice, which includes a third-place tie at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.
Mondy has four top-10 finishes and a 72.04 stroke average, Long has a pair of top-10 finishes and a 73.29 stroke average and Stringfellow has three top-20 finishes and a 72.70 stroke average. Benton has a pair of top-20 finishes and a 72.56 stroke average.
Auburn has played in the Bluegrass Invitational twice under Clinard, winning the tournament in 2011 a year after placing second. This year the field includes 13 teams, including host No. 34 Kentucky.
The teams will be playing the par-72 Big Blue Course, which plays at 6,992 yards. Play begins at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday with a shotgun start for 36 holes and then concludes with 18 holes on Sunday, which begins at 7 a.m.
