Winners of three of the last four tournaments it has participated in, the Auburn golf team has moved up to No. 19 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.
Led by senior Niclas Carlsson's 71.41 stroke average, Auburn claimed victories at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate (Feb. 17-18), the Tiger Invitational (March 10-11) and the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (March 23-25), with Carlsson recording Auburn's top finish in each.
Auburn has a team stroke average of 70.83 through nine events and has gone 10-21-0 against Top 25 teams, 27-30-0 against Top 50 teams and 59-36-1 against Top 100 teams and is 90-32-1 on the year.
Carlsson is the No. 57-ranked player with a 70.57 stroke average while teammate Matt Gilchrest is ranked No. 94 at 71.01.
Auburn is the fifth-highest ranked team out of the SEC behind Alabama (No. 1), Georgia (No. 2), Texas A&M (No. 9) and Vanderbilt (No. 11).
Auburn plays its final tournament this weekend as it heads to Lexington, Ky., for the UK Bluegrass Invitational at the UK University Club. The team will then play in the Capital City Club Collegiate Match Play at the Capital City Club Crabapple Course in Atlanta on April 19. The SEC Championships take place April 25-27 at the Seaside Golf Club at Sea Island, Ga.
