No. 21 Auburn to Co-Host Gary Koch Invitational

AUBURN – The No. 21 Auburn men’s golf team will co-host the Gary Koch Invitational with Kentucky at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla. with a 36-hole shotgun start on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.

Competing in the Gary Koch Invitational will be No. 11 Georgia Tech, No. 12 Florida, No. 16 North Florida, No. 19 Florida State, No. 25 Wake Forest, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Ohio State, Pacific, South Florida and UNCG.

“The Gary Koch Invitational is a wonderful event, and it is our pleasure to co-host the tournament once again with the University of Kentucky,” Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. “The course is in excellent shape, and we are ready to play.”

Senior Michael Hebert will be in the top spot for the Tigers, leading the team in scoring at 73.00. Last time out, Hebert recorded his fourth top-20 finish of the season, tying for 14th at 4-over. The Orlando, Fla. native leads the Tigers in rounds at par or better with 12 and is tied for first in sub-par rounds with eight.

Sophomore Michael Johnson is in the No. 2 spot, coming off a tied for 30th finish at the Hootie at Bulls Bay. Johnson, who is second on the squad in scoring at 73.19, has compiled a team-high five top-20 finishes and eight sub-par rounds.

Senior Dominic Bozzelli will be in the No. 3 position following a tie for 33rd at the Hootie at Bulls Bay. Bozzelli has five top-20 finishes this season including a win at the Amer Ari Invitational and a tie for second at the Samford Intercollegiate.

Junior Niclas Carlsson will be in the fourth spot for Auburn while redshirt freshman Jake Mondy rounds out the Auburn lineup. Mondy is coming off a tie for 22nd at the Hootie at Bulls Bay. Carlsson has had a strong spring season with three top-15 finishes including his third win of his career at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, and a runner-up finish at the Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner.

Senior David Zickler will be making his fifth appearance of the year, playing as an individual. Zickler has posted two top-20 finishes this season, tying for 15th at The McLaughlin and placing 12th at the Samford Invitational.

The Tigers will tee off Monday morning at 8:20 CDT with Florida and Kentucky.
