AUBURN - No. 11 Auburn will compete in the 2008 E-Z-Go Schenkel Invitational at the par-72, 6,962-yard Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga., March 14-16.
Senior Jay Moseley will lead the Tigers in the No. 1 position after his second consecutive top-5 finish. Junior Glenn Northcutt will be at No. 2 and seniors Jamie Bowen, Steven Groover and Patton Kizzire at Nos. 3,4 and 5, respectively.
The 18-team field, featuring seven schools ranked in the March 10 Golfweek top-25, includes No. 11 Auburn, No. 2 Alabama, No. 8 Tennessee, No. 12 Florida, No. 15 Michigan State, No. 20 South Carolina, No. 23 North Carolina, UAB, NC State, Augusta State, North Florida, Louisiana State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Georgia Southern, New Mexico and Boston College.
"We've got some good team from all over the place at the E-Z-Go," said head coach Mike Griffin. "We're going to have to get right after it on the first day."
After leading the Tigers in four consecutive tournaments, including three top-five finishes, Moseley jumped up 17 spots to 21 in the latest Golfweek Collegiate Individual rankings. Currently, Moseley leads all Tigers in strokes average (70.72), sub-par rounds (12) and rounds in the 60s (7).
Competing in the event are 15 players listed in Golfweek's top-50 collegiate golfers including Alabama's Michael Thompson (No. 2), Michigan State's Ryan Brehm (No. 4), North Carolina's Kevin O'Connell (No. 15), Minnesota's Clayton Rask (No.20), Auburn's Jay Moseley (No. 21), Alabama's Matthew Swan (No. 24), Florida's Billy Horschel (No. 28), NC State's Matt Hill (No. 29), Augusta State's Jake Amos (No. 31), Alabama's Matt Hughes (No.33), Alabama's Mark Harrell (No. 36), Tennessee's Chris Paisley (No.38), Florida's Tyler Brown (No. 39), Florida's Manuel Villegas (No. 41) and South Carolina's Mark Anderson (No. 46).
