HOOVER, Ala. – The No. 20 Auburn men’s golf team will play in the Samford Intercollegiate on Monday at the Hoover Country Club. The Tigers is coming off its second victory of the season after winning the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.

Also featured in the Samford Intercollegiate are Belmont, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern, Montevallo, Murray State, Presbyterian, Samford, Southern Illinois, Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Vanderbilt.

“It is always fun to compete in your home state, especially at such a nice venue like Hoover Country Club,” head coach Nick Clinard said. “Our goal is to continue to improve each week, and hopefully we will have a chance to win the tournament on the final nine holes on Tuesday.”

Junior Niclas Carlsson will be in the No. 1 position for the Tigers after winning his third career event at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Carlsson, who earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors for his victory, became the 11th Tiger to win a tournament under Clinard.

Senior Michael Hebert will play in the No. 2 spot after finishing in third place at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The Orlando, Fla., native leads the Tigers in scoring at 72.43 and at rounds at par or better with 10. Sophomore Michael Johnson is the third sport for Auburn after recording his fourth top-20 finish of the season. Johnson closed out the fall season with back-to-back second place finishes and finished tied for 20th at the Amer Ari Invitational and tied for 16th at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.

Senior All-American Dominic Bozzelli is in the No. 4 spot and is coming off a tie for 27th finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Bozzelli started off the spring by winning his third career tournament at the Amer Ari Invitational. Senior David Zickler rounds out the Auburn lineup after solidifying Auburn’s victory at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate with a 3-under 69 in the final round.
