AUBURN – Auburn junior Niclas Carlsson was named the SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. Carlsson claimed his third-career individual title at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, leading the Tigers to its second team win of the season.

"Niclas has worked extremely hard the past few months on improving his technique, and it is starting to show," head coach Nick Clinard said. When he is focused and working on the right things, he has the ability to win anytime he plays."

Carlsson shot a 4-under 212, defeating Wake Forest’s Evan Beck by two strokes and teammate Michael Hebert, who finished in third, by one stroke. Carlsson became the 11th Tiger to win a tournament under Clinard. 

Carlsson and the Tigers return to action March 4-5 at the Samford Intercollegiate at the Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Ala.
