Head Coach Nick Clinard
On the upcoming John Hayt Invitational...
"The John Hayt Invitataional always has a great field. It's on eof the best tournaments of the spring. It's a very good golf course. You never know what you're going to get weather wise because it's right on the ocean and you can get some pretty strong breezes blowing. Sometimes it can get some cold weather in Jacksonville that time of year. Hopefully we won't , but it will be a great test for us and we'll find out how good we are pretty quick."
"We are very, very young. We have some great players and some great talent. They've worked hard to develop that talent, as well. We're just trying to make sure we guide them in the right way and teach them how to practice. All the credit goes back to them. They've worked hard and they deserve the success they're having."
On remainder of spring season...
"We have a long spring season. We have eight tournaments this spring and we just finished with our first one. We're trying to build on the process of getting better every week and every month. If we can get into that and continue to build on the team's enthusiasm, I think we have a great chance to make a lot of noise at the SEC's and NCAA's, as well."
Niclas Carlsson, FR
On the Gator Invitational...
"We have a really good starting five. Everybody played pretty well. We were second after two rounds and we had four guys finish in the top-25 which is great. Hopefully, next time out at Sawgrass we can come out with the win."
On momentum heading into second half of the season...
"We have four straight top-two finishes. We're just trying to do our thing and stick to our gameplan. Like I said, we have a really good starting five. I think we will be one of the favorites to win the SEC. We're just really pumped about the upcoming tournaments."
On team chemistry...
"It's cool to all the hard work paying off and the team coming together. We were saying last week how we haven't all really played well in the same week, except for the Jerry Pate which we won. It's cool to see the success. We all complement each other well. It's definitely exciting. We're just going to continue to do what we're doing and hopefully have a good spring.
"I was just saying on the range yesterday how we have the best team camaraderie. We all get along together so well. We're all so differnet but we still have a great time and enjoy being around eachother. It think that translates into playing well."
On entering final round with a shot at an individual title...
"That's the goal every week. I have had that opportunity a few times lately. The more you're in that situation, the easier it becomes. You learn from each time you're in it. I feel like I gave it a good shot last week. All you can do is put yourself in that situation and you are going to break through every now and then."
On top-10 ranking...
"It's a good thing and a bad thing to look and see where you're at versus everyone else. I think, ultimately, it all comes down to making the NCAA tournament. We're just trying to play the best we can every week and the ranking isn't really of that much importance."
Area most of the team's game that could see the most improvement...
"Short game. Short game. Short game. That's what separates good from great in golf at every level. I think if we can chip and putt it better, we definitley have a shot of going all the way. We've just got to continue to work on that."
