No. 24 Auburn Tees Off Spring Season in Hawaii

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - The­ No. 24 Auburn men's golf team will play in the Amer Ari Invitational at the King's Course is Waikoloa, Hawaii, Wednesday through Friday. The 20 team field will feature nine teams ranked in the top-25 of the GolfWorld/Nike Golf Coaches Poll with No. 2 Texas, No. 5 UCLA, No. 7 Washington, No. 8 Southern California, No. 9 Georgia Tech, No. 14 Oklahoma State and No. 16 Stanford. Also featured in the field is Osaka Gakuin University from Japan.

"It is a great tournament with a great field," head coach Nick Clinard said. "Obviously, it is Hawaii so there will be palm trees and sunshine. I know the players are looking forward to it. Qualifying was pretty competitive as the guys have been amped up to try and get into the lineup."

Senior All-American Dominic Bozzelli, who will be in the No. 1 position for the Tigers, played in all five tournaments in the fall with a 73.47 scoring average. Bozzelli finished with a team-high three top-20 finishes, including a seventh place finish at The McLaughlin.

After closing out the fall season with back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate and U.S. Collegiate, All-SEC sophomore Michael Johnson will be in the No. 2 spot. The Birmingham, Ala., native is currently ranked 57th nationally by Golfweek.

Redshirt sophomore Dan Stringfellow playin the Auburn lineup for the third time this season in the No. 3 position, while All-SEC senior Michael Hebert is in the No. 4 spot for the Tigers after leading the team in scoring during the fall season, averaging 72.60. Hebert finished in the top-25 three times, including a second place finish at The McLaughlin.

Rounding out the Tigers' lineup is All-SEC junior Niclas Carlsson, who played in two tournaments in the fall.

Redshirt freshman Jake Mondy will be playing in the Amer Ari Invitational individually. Mondy led the team in rounds at par or better (5), sub-par rounds (4) and rounds in the 60s (4) during the fall campaign. Mondy earned his first career victory in his first collegiate start at The McLaughlin, edging out Hebert by two strokes.
