Jan. 22, 2014

Auburn signee Ben Schlottman won the 6th Annual Carolinas Georgia Junior Championship held at the Mount Vintage Plantation & Golf Club in North Augusta, S.C., over the weekend.

Schlottman won the event on the fourth playoff hole, rolling in a birdie putt for the win.

Schlottman, from Advance, N.C., and a senior at Forsyth Country Day, shot a 71-72--143 on the par-36, 3,517-yard Chester and par-36, 3,610-yard Vintage nine-hole courses. Over the course of two days he collected nine birdies, including five in his opening round, and 20 pars. He played the par-3s at plus-2, the par-4s at plus-3 and the par-5s at minus-6 to finish minus-1 at the tournament.

Schlottman tied for fifth in the tournament last year.

Schlottman signed with Auburn this past fall along with Matthew Perrine of Austin, Texas. Both will join the program for the 2014-15 season.
