Austin - The No. 15 Auburn men's golf team (297-883) concluded the 2007-08 regular season with a fourth-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the par-71, 7,412-yard University of Texas Golf Club on Tuesday.
Patton Kizzire (70-219) and Gordon Strother (72-219) led all Tigers, finishing tied for 13th. Jay Moseley (78-220) tied for17th, Glenn Northcutt (81-229) tied for 45th and Steven Groover (77-234) tied for 63rd.
"If there were a few more holes on that course we may have been able to catch up to UNLV," said head coach Mike Griffin. "Those three teams at the top played well all three rounds.
"We've now beaten every team in the SEC at least once this year. Our guys can see that and know what they are capable of. Hopefully we'll take that confidence into the SEC Tournament."
Tournament host Texas (287-868) claimed the team title, followed by No. 6 Oklahoma State (297-874), No. 14 UNLV (296-876), Auburn, Texas Tech (296-885), No. 20 UCF (298-885), No. 1 Alabama (298-886), No. 19 Louisville (291-887), BYU (300-904), Pepperdine (305-898), TCU (300-904), Fresno State (299-910), Tulsa (309-915), San Diego (304-317) and New Mexico (310-320).
Individually, Texas' Bobby Hudson (65-208) and Charlie Holland (71-212) took first and second, respectively. UNLV's Matt Kinsinger (72-214) finished third.
The Tigers return to action April 18-20 in the SEC Championship held at the par-72, 7,217 -yard Frederica Golf Club in Saint Simons Island, Ga. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat (www.golfstat.com).
