Awendaw, S.C. - The No. 14 Auburn men's golf team (286-865) finished seventh in the Hootie at Bulls Bay at the par-71, 7,261-yard Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
Jay Moseley (70-213), leading the Tigers for sixth consecutive outings, tied for 14th. Patton Kizzire (70-216) tied for 24th, Glenn Northcutt (72-217) tied for 27th, Gordon Strother (74-220) tied for 37th and Jaime Bowen (78-226) tied for 63rd.
"Jay had another solid round for us today," said head coach Mike Griffin. "We had to count too many double-bogeys these last couple of days. In the position we were coming into the final day, we needed to make a strong move to get back in the hunt."
Unranked NC State (271-838) claimed victory after carding a 13-under team total in the third round, the lowest of the tournament. No. 21 Clemson (281-850) finished second, followed by No. 16 South Carolina (284-850), No. 9 Florida (281-851), Virginia Tech (276-861), Lamar (281-861), Auburn (286-865), No. 18 UCF (284-866), Kentucky (275-868), LSU (289-874), Augusta State (296-878), Baylor (282-879), No. 17 Wake Forest (291-879), Charleston (291-882) and No. 12 Duke (290-885).
NC State's Matt Hill (66-204) earned the individual title, followed by Virginia Tech's Jurrian van der Vaart (65-206). Lamar's Justin Harding (67-208) and Clemson's Phillip Mollica 68-208) tied for third.
