No. 23 Auburn Seventh, Carlsson 10th At Bulls Bay

Niclas Carlsson is one of four Auburn golfers in the top 25 after the opening round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. No. 23 Auburn stands in seventh place, four shots off the lead.

Carlsson shot a 2-under, 70, and is one of eight players tied for 10th after the opening round. He shot a bogey-free round and birdied the par-5 fourth and par-5 sixth holes.

Matt Gilchrest is one shot behind Carlsson after a 1-under, 71, on Sunday. He birdied the par-4 ninth, the par-5 10th and the par-5 13th and had a pair of bogeys. He joins six other golfers that are tied for 18th after the opening round.

Jake Mondy and Daniel Stringfellow are each tied for 25th with an even-par round. Mondy had two pars and two bogeys and Stringfellow had four pars, two bogeys and a double bogey.

Will Long is tied for 41st at 1-over, 73, and had four birdies and five bogeys on the day.

Auburn is a collective minus-3, four strokes behind leaders Missouri and No. 24 South Carolina, which are both minus-7. College of Charleston and No. 39 Wake Forest are both minus-6 and No. 10 Virginia and No. 36 Kentucky are both minus-5.
