Las Vegas, Nev. - The Auburn men's golf team shot a 14-over 302 and is in 11th place after the first round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship at the par 72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
Freshman Kyle Kopsick is tied for 23rd after shooting a two-over 74.
Freshman John Stembridge (75) is tied for 33rd, junior Cole Moreland
(76) is tied for 40th, senior Glenn Northcutt (77) is tied for 52nd and freshman Will McCurdy (81) is tied for 70th.
"Kyle Kopsick had another good opening round this week, so I was pleased with that," said head coach Mike Griffin. "It is still early in the weekend, and I am hoping we can come out tomorrow and have a good second round and improve our position."
No. 4 Clemson (283) is in the lead followed by UNLV (285), Arizona (287), No. 12 Georgia Tech (289), No. 11 Florida (290), No. 3 Oklahoma State (291), No. 2 USC (295), UCLA (296), California (298), Charlotte (300), Auburn (302), No. 1 Georgia (303), No. 20 Texas A&M (308), Arizona State (309) and No. 8 Texas (312).
No. 2 USC's Matthew Giles, No. 4 Clemson's Ben Martin, UNLV's Colby Smith and No. 12 Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale are in a four-way tie for first at a five-under 67.
