HOOVER, Ala. – The No. 20 Auburn men’s golf team won its third tournament of the season, and 11th under head coach Nick Clinard, on Tuesday winning the Samford Intercollegiate at the Hoover Country Club with an 1-over 865.
The Tigers shot a tournament low 2-under 286 in the final round to erase a 5-shot deficit to win by 11 over Vanderbilt. Georgia Southern finished in third at 880, while Winthrop (887) and Samford (888) round out the top-5.
“All three rounds were a team effort, and I am proud of the guys for picking up our third team win of the season today,” Clinard said. “We played sloppy at times each round, but they were resilient and tough. Our short games were exposed this week and we have lots of room to improve. The guys are excited about preparing for our home event next week, which should be a lot of fun.”
