Auburn in the NFL – Week 17

Auburn entered the 2012 season with 28 alumni on National Football League rosters, the eighth-best total among college football programs.

Devin Aromashodu (WR, Minnesota Vikings)
Saw snaps, but did not record a reception in Minnesota’s 37-34 win over Green Bay. Aromashodu finished with 11 receptions for 182 yards this season in 15 games, his fifth in the NFL and second with the Vikings. He has totaled 78 catches for 1,193 in his career.

Rob Bironas (PK, Tennessee Titans)
Closed out the 2012 season with a 48-yard field goal as Tennessee defeated the Jaguars, 38-20. Bironas hit 25-of-31 field goals this season. He has hit on 85.6 percent of his attempts in eight seasons.

Ronnie Brown (RB, San Diego Chargers)
Had five carries for 20 yards as the Chargers finished the 2012 season with 24-21 win over Oakland. Brown’s 13 rushing yards during week 6 put him over 5,000 for his career. He has played in 106 games in his career with 49 touchdowns.

Josh Bynes (LB, Baltimore Ravens)
Made his third-straight start and totaled nine tackles in a 23-17 loss to the Bengals. Bynes has played in 10 games with three starts and totaled 34 tackles in 2012. He has played in 11 games in his two-year career with Baltimore.

Jason Campbell (QB, Chicago Bears)
Did not see any snaps in a season ending win over Detroit. Campbell has played in six games in his sixth NFL season after being selected in the first round by Washington in 2005. He has two touchdowns and two interceptions in 2012. He has passed for more than 14,000 yards in his career with 76 touchdowns.

Karlos Dansby (LB, Miami Dolphins)
Closed the season with a season-best 13 tackles in Miami’s 28-0 loss to the Patroits. Has recorded 134 tackles in 2012. A nine-year veteran, Dansby has more than 850 stops in his career and a career-best total this season. He’s one of just four active NFL players with at least 30 sacks and 10 interceptions.

Tristan Davis (RB, Washington Redskins)
Missed the 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve on September 3.

King Dunlap (OT, Philadelphia Eagles)
Made his 12th start of the season on the offensive line in a 42-7 loss to the Giants. He’s played in 14 games this season with 12 starts after missing two games due to a hamstring injury. Dunlap has played in 52 games in four seasons with 19 starts.

Nick Fairley (DT, Detroit Lions)
Placed on the injured reserve on December 19 with a shoulder injury. The 13th overall pick in 2011, Fairley has played in 23 games with seven starts in two seasons with the Lions. He totaled 34 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2012.

Mario Fannin (RB, Denver Broncos)
Missed the 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury on August 8.

Tyronne Green (OG, San Diego Chargers)
Closed out the 2012 season by starting the final two games after missing a pair of games with an injury. Green started 13 games this season for the Chargers. He has played in 31 games in his career and started 28 times.

Quentin Groves (LB, Arizona Cardinals)
Made his seventh start of the season and recorded two tackles in a 27-13 loss to San Francisco. Groves totaled 29 tackles in seven starts this season. He had a career-best 46 tackles (35 solo) and four sacks with one forced fumble this season.

Ben Grubbs (OG, New Orleans Saints)
Has started all 16 games at guard for New Orleans this season, including Week 17’s 44-38 loss to Carolina. Grubbs has played in 90 games in his six-year career with 86 starts. He has started in every game he has played since 2008.

Josh Harris (DS, Atlanta Falcons)
Served as the long snapper for Atlanta as they closed the regular season with a 22-17 loss to the Saints. He played in all 16 games in 2012 as the deep snapper. Harris is in his first season with the Falcons after being signed as a free agent. He registered three special teams tackles this season.

Will Herring (LB, New Orleans Saints)
Snaps, but did not record any statistics in the Saints’ 44-38 loss to Carolina. Herring has totaled 131 tackles in his six-year career and had 13 total stops (10 solo) this season.

Brandon Jacobs (RB, San Francisco 49ers)
Was waived by San Francisco on December 31. Jacobs is an eight-year NFL veteran that totaled five carries for seven yards in two games in 2012 with the 49ers.

Spencer Johnson (DE, Buffalo Bills)
Had his best game of the season in the finale with three solo tackles, a sack and a forced fumble as Buffalo defeated the Jets, 27-9. Johnson finished the season with 10 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and two deflections this season. He has 303 total stops in his nine-year career.

Pat Lee (DB, Detroit Lions)
Totaled four tackles as Detroit fell to Chicago, 26-24. Lee has played in 15 games combined this season for the Raiders and Lions. He has recorded 37 tackles with four break ups, one interception and one forced fumble.

Sen'Derrick Marks (DT, Tennessee Titans)
Closed the season by registering four tackles and half a sack in the Titans’ 38-20 win over Jacksonville. Marks has 41 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2012. He has played in 51 games in his four-year career with 26 starts. He has totaled 99 tackles and 3.0 sacks during his tenure.

Brandon Mosley (OG, New York Giants)
Missed the 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve on August 27 with an ankle injury.

Cam Newton (QB, Carolina Panthers)
Led Carolina to its fourth-straight win as it closed the 2012 season with a 44-38 win over New Orleans as he passed for 248 yards on 16-of-33 passes. Newton passed for 7,881 yards in his first two seasons, breaking Peyton Manning’s record of 7,874 from 1998-99. He threw for 3,869 yards with 19 touchdowns and rushed for 741 yards with eight scores in his second season after being drafted with the top overall pick in 2011. Newton has 62 total touchdowns in 32 career games. Newton had his streak of 176 passes attempted without an interception end on the final play of the third quarter in Week 16. His streak of 176 attempts is a new Panthers record.

Ben Obomanu (WR, Seattle Seahawks)
Placed on Injured Reserve on October 30 with a wrist injury. Obomanu played in eight games in 2012 and has played in 66 career games while totaling 87 receptions for 1,209 yards with seven touchdowns in his six-year tenure, all with the Seahawks.

Jerraud Powers (DB, Indianapolis Colts)
Placed on injured reserve on November 13 with a toe injury. He finished the 2012 season with 40 tackles and one interception in eight starts. Powers has started all 42 games in his career and registered 210 tackles with six interceptions in four seasons.

Jay Ratliff (DT, Dallas Cowboys)
Suffered through an injury plagued 2012 season that included him missing the final six games of the season with a groin injury. Ratliff finished his eighth season, all with Dallas. He has started 85 games with 228 tackles and 27.0 sacks.

Carlos Rogers (DB, San Francisco 49ers)
Had two tackles and a deflection as the NFC West champion 49ers defeated Arizona, 27-13. Rogers finished the 2012 regular season with 56 tackles, one sack and one interception. He started all 16 games in 2012 and has started all but three of the 98 games he played in since 2006. Rogers was a 2011 Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection.

Pat Sims (DT, Cincinnati Bengals)
Had four tackles (three solo) in the Bengals’ 23-17 win over Cincinnati. Sims played in eight games this season with 17 tackles and one interception after returning from injury. A five-year veteran, he has played in 60 games with 23 starts.

Takeo Spikes (LB, San Diego Chargers)
Had one tackle before being ejected in the first quarter of San Diego’s season closing 24-21 win over the Raiders. The 15-year veteran started all 16 games for the Chargers in 2012 and totaled 78 tackles (53 solo) with one forced fumble. Spikes has recorded 1,434 tackles in his 15 seasons in the NFL, the last two with San Diego.

Ben Tate (RB, Houston Texans)
Carried twice for seven yards as Houston fell to the Colts, 28-16. Tate has 279 yards rushing and two touchdowns this season for the AFC South champs. For his career, the Maryland native has run for 1,221 yards and six touchdowns.

Neiko Thorpe (DB, Kansas City Chiefs)
Played in his ninth game in 2012 as Kansas City fell to the Broncos, 38-3. Thorpe is in his first year in the league after signing as an undrafted free agent over the summer. He has totaled five tackles in nine games in 2012.

Lee Ziemba (OT, Indianapolis Colts)
Released from injured reserve by Carolina and subsequently signed by the Indianapolis Colts to their practice squad on December 18.
