Tampa, Fla. - The Auburn football team spent roughly an hour and a half on the practice fields Tuesday morning in chilly conditions preparing for Friday's Outback Bowl game against Northwestern.

The Tigers hit on all phases of their game plan, opening with special teams work before splitting into positional reps and closing with team drills.

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik noted that Tuesday's practice would be a typical Wednesday practice during a normal game week and that he was pleased with the Tigers effort.

"The tempo was up," Chizik said. "We went a little shorter because of some of the bowl events, but we're coming down to the end of the week and this was our `Wednesday' practice. We got some good work today and I think we're heading in the right direction."

Following the morning practice, the Tigers attended the DeBartolo team luncheon, which also featured the Northwestern Wildcats, at the Tampa Convention Center.

Following an afternoon break that also included positional meetings, the Tigers visited GameWorks in the evening. Both teams enjoyed dinner and played a variety of games, ranging from arcade adventure games to football passing and basketball games.

"It's fun getting out and doing something together as a team. I played the football game and I think I could have been a quarterback.
