Auburn in the NFL – Week 16

Auburn entered the 2012 season with 28 alumni on National Football League rosters, the eighth-best total among college football programs.

Devin Aromashodu (WR, Minnesota Vikings)
Saw snaps, but did not record a reception in Minnesota’s 23-6 win over the AFC-leading Texans. Aromashodu has 11 receptions for 182 yards this season in 13 games, his fifth in the NFL and second with the Vikings. He has totaled 78 catches for 1,193 in his career.

Rob Bironas (PK, Tennessee Titans)
Did not attempt a field goal, but connected on his lone PAT in Tennessee’s 55-7 loss to the Packers. Bironas has hit 24-of-30 field goals this season. He has hit on 85.5 percent of his attempts in eight seasons.

Ronnie Brown (RB, San Diego Chargers)
Started at running back and carried five times for 31 yards as San Diego defeated the Jets, 27-17. Brown’s 13 rushing yards during week 6 put him over 5,000 for his career. He has played in 105 games in his career with 49 touchdowns.

Josh Bynes (LB, Baltimore Ravens)
Made his second-straight start, but totaled just one tackle in Baltimore’s 33-14 win over the Giants. Bynes has played in nine games with two start and totaled 5 tackles in 2012. He has played in 10 games in his two-year career as a reserve linebacker with Baltimore.

Jason Campbell (QB, Chicago Bears)
Did not see action in Chicago’s 28-13 win over the Cardinals. Campbell has played in six games in his sixth NFL season after being selected in the first round by Washington in 2005. He has two touchdowns and two interceptions in 2012. He has passed for more than 14,000 yards in his career with 76 touchdowns.

Karlos Dansby (LB, Miami Dolphins)
Posted double-digit tackles for the third time in 2012 with 10 in a 24-10 win over the Bills while also forcing a fumble. Has recorded 121 tackles in 2012. A nine-year veteran, Dansby has more than 850 stops in his career and a career-best 121 this season. He’s one of just four active NFL players with at least 30 sacks and 10 interceptions.

Tristan Davis (RB, Washington Redskins)
Will miss the 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve on September 3.

King Dunlap (OT, Philadelphia Eagles)
Made his 11th start of the season on the offensive line in a 27-20 loss to the Redskins. He’s played in 13 games this season with 11 starts after missing two games due to a hamstring injury. Dunlap has played in 51 games in four seasons with 18 starts.

Nick Fairley (DT, Detroit Lions)
Placed on the injured reserve on December 19 with a shoulder injury. The 13th overall pick in 2011, Fairley has played in 23 games with seven starts in two seasons with the Lions. He totaled 34 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2012.

Mario Fannin (RB, Denver Broncos)
Will miss the 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury on August 8.

Tyronne Green (OG, San Diego Chargers)
Returned from injury in Week 16 to start at guard in a 27-17 win over the Jets after missing two games due to injury. Green has started 12 games this season for the Chargers. He has played in 30 games in his career and started 27 times.

Quentin Groves (LB, Arizona Cardinals)
Missed Arizona’s loss to 28-13 loss to Chicago with a foot injury. Groves had totaled 20 tackles in the three previous games before being injured against Detroit and averaged 6.5 tackles in his first four starts. He has a career-high 44 tackles (35 solo) and four sacks with one forced fumble this season in five starts.

Ben Grubbs (OG, New Orleans Saints)
Has started all 15 games at guard for New Orleans this season, including Week 16’s 34-14 win over Dallas. Grubbs has played in 89 games in his six-year career with 85 starts. He has started in every game he has played since 2008.

Josh Harris (DS, Atlanta Falcons)
Served as the long snapper for Atlanta as they defeated the Lions, 31-18. He has played in all 15 games in 2012 as the deep snapper. Harris is in his first season with the Falcons after being signed as a free agent. He has registered three special teams tackles this season.

Will Herring (LB, New Orleans Saints)
Had one tackle in the Saints’ 34-31 overtime win over Dallas. Herring has totaled 131 tackles in his six-year career and has 13 total stops (10 solo) this season.

Brandon Jacobs (RB, San Francisco 49ers)
Will not play over the final two weeks of the season after being suspended by team. Jacobs is an eight-year NFL veteran and is in his first year with the 49ers after seven seasons with the New York Giants, including two Super Bowl victories. He has totaled five carries for seven yards this season.

Spencer Johnson (DE, Buffalo Bills)
Did not record any stats despite seeing action in the Bills’ 24-10 loss to Miami. Johnson has 16 tackles, one sack and two deflections this season and 300 total stops in his nine-year career.

Pat Lee (DB, Detroit Lions)
Did not record any stats in Detroit’s 31-18 loss to the Falcons. Lee has played in 14 games combined this season for the Raiders and Lions. He has recorded 33 tackles with four break ups, one interception and one forced fumble.

Sen'Derrick Marks (DT, Tennessee Titans)
Had two tackles in Tennessee’s 55-7 loss to the Packers. Marks has 37 tackles and one sack in 2012. He has played in 50 games in his four-year career with 25 starts. He has totaled 95 tackles and 2.5 sacks during his tenure.

Brandon Mosley (OG, New York Giants)
Will miss the 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve on August 27 with an ankle injury.

Cam Newton (QB, Carolina Panthers)
Passed for 170 yards and a touchdown while also running for 60 yards and a touchdown as Carolina earned its third-straight victory, a 17-6 win over the Raiders. Newton has passed for 7,672 yards in his first two seasons, second-most behind Peyton Manning (7,874, 1998-99). He has thrown for 3,621 yards with 19 touchdowns and rushed for 707 yards with eight scores in his second season after being drafted with the top overall pick in 2011. Newton has 62 total touchdowns in 31 career games. Newton had his streak of 176 passes attempted without an interception end on the final play of the third quarter. His streak of 176 attempts is a new Panthers record.

Ben Obomanu (WR, Seattle Seahawks)
Placed on Injured Reserve on October 30 with a wrist injury. Obomanu played in eight games in 2012 and has played in 66 career games while totaling 87 receptions for 1,209 yards with seven touchdowns in his six-year tenure, all with the Seahawks.

Jerraud Powers (DB, Indianapolis Colts)
Placed on injured reserve on November 13 with a toe injury. He finished the 2012 season with 40 tackles and one interception in eight starts. Powers has started all 42 games in his career and registered 210 tackles with six interceptions in four seasons.

Jay Ratliff (DT, Dallas Cowboys)
Missed his fifth consecutive game with a groin injury as the Cowboys fell to New Orleans, 34-31 in overtime. Ratliff is in his eighth season, all with Dallas. He has started 85 games with 228 tackles and 27.0 sacks.

Carlos Rogers (DB, San Francisco 49ers)
Had six tackles and a deflection as San Francisco fell to the Seahawks, 42-13. In his eighth season after being drafted No. 9 overall by Washington in 2005, Rogers has 54 tackles in 2012. He’s started all but three of the 97 games he played in since 2006 and was a 2011 Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection.

Pat Sims (DT, Cincinnati Bengals)
Had five tackles (four solo) in the Bengals’ 13-10 win over Pittsburgh. Sims has played in seven games this season with 3 tackles and one interception after returning from injury. A five-year veteran, he has played in 59 games with 23 starts.

Takeo Spikes (LB, San Diego Chargers)
Had two tackles as San Diego defeated the Jets, 27-17. The 15-year veteran has started all 15 games for the Chargers in 2012 and totaled 78 tackles (52 solo) with one forced fumble. Spikes has recorded 1,433 tackles in his 15 seasons in the NFL, the last two with San Diego.

Ben Tate (RB, Houston Texans)
Totaled four rushes for 17 yards with a long carry of 13 yards in Houston’s 23-6 loss to the Vikings. Tate has 272 yards rushing and two touchdowns this season for the AFC’s top club. For his career, the Maryland native has run for 1,214 yards and six touchdowns.

Neiko Thorpe (DB, Kansas City Chiefs)
Had a season high three tackles in the Chiefs’ 20-13 loss to Indianapolis. Thorpe is in his first year in the league after signing as an undrafted free agent over the summer. He has totaled five tackles in eight games in 2012.

Lee Ziemba (OT, Indianapolis Colts)
Released from injured reserve by Carolina and subsequently signed by the Indianapolis Colts to their practice squad on December 18.
