The Auburn football team held its final bowl practice in Auburn Tuesday morning, working out for a little more than an hour at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex. The squad will take three days off before convening in Tampa on Jan. 26 to resume preparations for the 2010 Outback Bowl.
The Tigers practiced in shells under sunny skies, beginning the practice with special teams drills. Much of the rest of the practice focused on the game plan against Northwestern, as the offense and defense worked against the scout team units.
Following practice, head coach Gene Chizik said that Auburn accomplished a great deal in its eight practices over the past 11 days.
"I thought it was very productive, as far as the whole eight days of practice," said Chizik. "We finished on a very good note today. With the last day being today I thought the focus was there, and I thought they did a nice job, so it was a very productive two weeks."
The Tigers continued a tradition following practice as members of the senior class were carried off the practice field by other team members in honor of the seniors' last practice at the Complex.
Auburn (7-5) will meet Northwestern (8-4) in the 2010 Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 in Tampa, Fla. The game will kick off at 10 a.m. CT in Raymond James Stadium and be nationally televised by ESPN.
