Auburn Football Practice Report
Dec. 16, 2009
AUBURN - The Auburn football team continued to prepare for its New Year's Day appearance in the Outback Bowl with a two-hour practice Wednesday at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex. The Tigers, who had been off the two previous days while finishing final exams, worked out in full pads on Wednesday. It marked the first of four straight days of practice, and six of the next seven, for Auburn. Wednesday's practice opened with special teams, before the Tigers conducted individual and position drills. Following more special teams work, much of the latter half of practice included work by the offense and defense against the scout teams. Following practice, head coach Gene Chizik said the two-day layoff showed, but that the team displayed a lot of enthusiasm. "It was a good practice today," said Chizik. "We had good preparation for Northwestern today. We tried to get after it a little bit. We were kind of rusty and tried to knock a little of the dust off, but overall I thought it was a really active and really good practice." The Tigers will return to practice Thursday at 5 p.m. CT. Auburn (7-5) will meet Northwestern (8-4) in the 2010 Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 in Tampa, Fla. The game will kick off at 10 a.m. CT in Raymond James Stadium and be nationally televised by ESPN.
