AUBURN, Ala. – It’s been quite a ride for Auburn play-by-play announcer Rod Bramblett.

In Auburn’s final two regular season games – a 43-38 victory over Georgia and a 34-28 victory over Alabama – Bramblett made calls of a lifetime. And in the latest edition of Sports Illustrated, Bramblett was named the Play-by-Play Announcer of the Year.

“Bramblett was given two once-in-a-lifetime plays this year, and he delivered on both,” Sports Illustrated wrote. “Though his call of Chris Davis’s 109-yard dash in the Iron Bowl will be played for eternity, even better was his description of Ricardo Louis’s 73-yard catch of a tipped ball that gave the Tigers a 43-38 win over Georgia on Nov. 16: “A miracle in Jordan-Hare! A miracle in Jordan-Hare!”

Bramblett is in his 11th season as Auburn’s play-by-play announcer and will call his second BCS National Championship Game in four seasons. A Valley, Ala., native, Bramblett has twice been named Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

“This is a great honor, being recognized for what has been a truly incredible season,” Bramblett said. “This award isn’t just for me, but it is for the entire Auburn IMG Sports Network crew which I consider to be the best in the business.”
