capital one bowl imageAUBURN--Auburn will make its second appearance in the Capital One Bowl in the last three years as the Tigers accepted an invitation to the bowl Sunday.  The Capital One Bowl will be held at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Jan. 1 at 12 p.m. (CT).

"We are extremely excited to be playing in the Capital One Bowl," said head football coach Tommy Tuberville.  "We enjoyed our time in Orlando two years ago and are looking forward to another great time at the bowl.  They do an outstanding job hosting the teams.  I know
we'll have a lot of fan support at all the Capital One festivities and at the game.  We want to paint Orlando orange."

Ticket orders will taken on-line at www.auburntigers.com.  Ticket orders can also be placed over the phone by dialing 1-800-AUB-1957.   Tickets are $65 each.  Bowl travel packages are also available through Tigers Unlimited at www.tigersunlimited.com.

"We would like all of our fans to come to Orlando and join us in a celebration of a good season and to help us salute this football team for the way they concluded the season," said David Housel, Auburn athletic director. "We also urge all of our fans to purchase tickets
through the Auburn Athletic Department rather than through other outlets.  It is extremely important that Auburn receives credit for the tickets we sell, not only for the Capital One Bowl, but to establish our reputation for future bowl ticket sales."

Auburn's appearance in the Capital One Bowl marks the fourth time the Tigers have played in the Orlando-based bowl game.  In 2000, Auburn fell to Michigan, 31-28, while in 1986, Auburn defeated Southern California, 16-7.  In 1982, the Tigers beat Boston College, 33-26, in
    the Tangerine Bowl.

Auburn, 8-4, will face Penn State, 9-3, marking just the second meeting between the two schools.  Penn State defeated Auburn, 43-14 in the 1995 Outback Bowl.

The Tigers return to practice on Dec. 14 and will practice until Dec. 20 in Auburn.
