Auburn is headed to the Outback Bowl in Tampa

AUBURN, Ala.  Two of the top tailbacks in the country will square off in the Outback Bowl in Tampa when Auburn faces Wisconsin on New Year's Day.

The Outback Bowl will kick off at 11 a.m., Auburn time, in Raymond James Stadium on ESPN2 with the SEC's leading rusher in Auburn's Cameron Artis-Payne against Big Ten rushing champ and national rushing leader Melvin Gordon. 

Gordon, the Big Ten offensive player of the year, has 2,336 yards and 26 touchdowns rushing. Artis-Payne is 14th nationally with 1,482 yards.

No. 19 Auburn is 8-4. No. 18 Wisconsin, which lost to Ohio State 59-0 in the Big Ten title game Saturday, is 10-3.

"We're very excited about the opportunity to play at the Outback Bowl in Tampa against a very good Wisconsin team,” Auburn  coach Gus Malzahn said. "Our players and coaches are looking forward to this opportunity. It should be a great week for our team and our fans."
 
Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs called it "a great match-up for our team and a terrific bowl trip for the Auburn family."

Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen said the trip is "a great reward for our players and the terrific season they have had," Andersen said. "Tampa is a great destination for our team and fans and Auburn is a very quality opponent from a great conference. We are looking forward to the matchup." 

The schools announced the pairing Sunday.

Tickets are $80 for stadium seating and $170 for club level and may be purchased through the Auburn Ticket Office on the Internet or by calling 1-855-282-2010.
