A Word From Jay Jacobs
Dear Auburn Family,
As you no doubt know by now, the search is over. At a press conference later today, we will introduce Gus Malzahn as our 26th head football coach.
I am incredibly excited for our current and future student-athletes, for Auburn University and for the entire Auburn Family. Coach Malzahn was the clear and unanimous choice of our search committee, and Dr. Gogue accepted our recommendation this morning.
Coach Malzahn was our choice because he is a proven winner who has been successful at every level. He is one of the brightest minds in college football, and he knows what it takes to build a championship program at Auburn. In addition to being a great coach, he will also be an outstanding ambassador for Auburn University. That was important to our committee.
I want to thank Mac Crawford, Bo Jackson and Pat Sullivan for their tireless efforts throughout the search. This process confirmed my belief that nobody was better qualified to lead us in the search. They came to the table with only one agenda--finding the right man to lead our football program now and in the future.
Our search committee was objective, thorough and thoughtful throughout the entire process. Auburn will forever be in their debt for the outstanding leadership they have provided their alma mater.
I also want to thank the many Auburn men and women who reached out to offer their input before and during the search. We might not always agree on the best way to get there, but there is no doubt we all want what is best for Auburn.
You are the best fans in the country, and I appreciate your passion and love for Auburn University.
There will be challenges ahead, but our history says we always respond to change and emerge stronger than ever. I have no doubt that will be our destiny once again.
