Four Tigers Named To The Sporting News SEC All-Freshman Team

AUBURN, Ala. - Four members of the Auburn football team were named Friday to The Sporting News SEC All-Freshman team. Three members of the Auburn defense were named to the squad, including tackle Sen'Derrick Marks, linebacker Tray Blackmon and safety Aairon Savage, while tight end Tommy Trott represents the Auburn offense on the team.

Marks, who has started all 12 games this season at defensive tackle, finished the regular season with 33 tackles, including 25 solo, and ranks second on the team with 8.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He has recovered three fumbles while forcing one of his own, and has also blocked a kick, posted two passes defended and one quarterback hurry.

Blackmon was named to the team despite playing in just six games this season. He started four of Auburn's final six games and was credited with 18 tackles, including 14 solo stops. He had 2.5 tackles for loss and tied for the team lead by recovering three fumbles.

Savage finished the regular season ranked third on the team with 48 tackles while playing in 11 games, including 10 starts. He recorded three tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and forced one fumble. Savage was named the SEC's Freshman of the Week Oct. 30 after tying for the team lead with six tackles and intercepting a pass in a 23-17 win at Ole Miss.

Tommy Trott


Trott has played in all 12 games this season, starting the last nine. He ranks sixth on the team with 10 catches for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He caught three balls for 31 yards and a touchdown in a 24-17 victory at South Carolina Sept. 28, and caught a season-long 27-yard pass for a score in a 38-13 victory over Tulane Oct. 21.
