Additional Security Measures in Effect for Iron Bowl

Nov. 25, 2015

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn University Athletics Department announces increased security measures which have been put in place for the 2015 Iron Bowl. Additionally, gates will open at Noon, two and a half hours prior to kickoff, to allow for smooth ingress and greater inspection entering Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Fans attending Saturday’s Auburn-Alabama football game will see an increased police presence in and around Jordan-Hare Stadium. Additional personnel from law enforcement agencies will patrol the exterior of the stadium. There will be an increased number of Vapor Wake dogs and K-9 detection teams monitoring the stadium. In addition to the security enhancements fans will see at Jordan-Hare Stadium, there will be many “unseen” as well.

“Safety is always the highest priority for major events on the Auburn University campus,” said City of Auburn Police Chief Paul Register. “However, with the sensitivity to world events and the expected increase in fans in attendance this weekend, additional precautions are in effect this week for the Iron Bowl.”

There will be a state helicopter patrolling the air space around campus to monitor activity, as well as two portable Homeland Security observation towers located on each side of the stadium.

Fans should plan for additional time for the thorough inspection of bags entering Jordan-Hare Stadium. Reminder, bags larger than 12x12x12 are strictly prohibited. If possible, patrons should consider not bringing bags to the stadium. Fans entering the stadium without bags can utilize the express gates at Gate 2, 12A, 12C and 15.

Part of the gameday production on Saturday will be a fireworks show during the Auburn Marching Band pregame and halftime performance. Additionally, fireworks will be utilized in-game to celebrate Auburn scores. A flyover has also been scheduled for pregame featuring F-16s.

Auburn Athletics and law enforcement officials encourage fans to report all suspicious activity. Fans can contact the Jordan-Hare Stadium command post at 334-844-2807 or utilize the text assist service. Text “AUBURN” to 69050 (text message rates may apply).
