The 25th-ranked Auburn Tigers spent an hour and a half in warm, sunny weather Tuesday afternoon polishing their game plan for this Saturday's Iron Bowl showdown against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville was pleased with the Tigers' work during the practice session and noted the team's productivity in warmer than normal temperatures.
"Everybody was out practicing today," Tuberville said. "It was hot, I think it was 85 degrees on the turf, but everybody's spirits are good. The hay is in the barn. Today was a grind, we hit them pretty good."
The Tigers (7-4, 4-3 SEC) will practice again Wednesday and Thursday afternoon before taking Friday off.
"Today was basically a Wednesday practice for us," Tuberville noted. "Tomorrow and Thursday will basically be a normal Thursday practice, just a walk-through and work on the kicking game. We'll work on pointing out our assignments, nothing physical."
Auburn hosts Alabama (6-5, 4-3 SEC) Saturday in a 7 p.m. game that will be televised nationally by ESPN.
It will be the 72nd meeting between the teams. Alabama holds a series lead fo 38-32-1. It will mark the ninth meeting played in Auburn, with the Tigers holding a 6-2 edge in those games.
Auburn returns to the practice fields Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
