Dontarrious Thomas Named Academic All-District IV Team

AUBURN -- Auburn senior linebacker Dontarrious Thomas was named to the 2003 University Division Football Academic All-District IV first-team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, announced Thursday. The CoSIDA District IV includes schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
A three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, Thomas earned Academic All-America District IV second team honors in 2002 and is a four-time recipient of the Auburn Athletic Department Top Tiger Award. The Perry, Ga., native was recently named to the prestigious National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's 2003 National Scholar-Athlete Class.
A 6'4" 238-pound linebacker, Thomas is 10th in career tackles at Auburn. This season, Thomas is second on the team with 59 tackles, including seven for loss while starting in all 10 contests.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of CoSIDA within the district.
The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program. First team selections will appear on the national ballot for the Academic All-America Football team to be announced December 1.
