AUBURN, Ala. —CBS has selected Auburn-Georgia as its national game Saturday, meaning kickoff in Jordan-Hare Stadium will be at 2:30 p.m.
CBS and the SEC announced the selection Sunday after the network spent the week considering whether to televise Auburn-Georgia or Florida-South Carolina. It wasn't much of a decision after Auburn ran past Tennessee 55-23 and Florida lost to Vanderbilt 34-17 Saturday.
The one-sentence matchup: Auburn, 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC, against Georgia, 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the league, in the Deep South's oldest football rivalry. Bonus sentence: It will be the second straight year the Bulldogs have played in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
It will also be the second CBS appearance for Auburn this season. The Tigers beat Texas A&M 45-41 in their first appearance, on Oct. 19.
ESPN jumped in and made the final selections Sunday, putting Florida-South Carolina on ESPN2 at 6 p.m., and Alabama-Mississippi State at 6:45 p.m. on ESPN.
