Auburn Football Practice Report
Nov. 8, 2009
Auburn, Ala. - The 25th-ranked Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Sunday evening after taking the past two Sunday's off following a game. The Tigers went through a light 40-minute practice session behind the Auburn Athletic Complex. Coming off a 63-31 victory over Furman which saw the defense hold the Paladin to 266 total yards of offense, Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof noted the importance of several players seeing time in Saturday's game. "(Watching film) I saw 31 Auburn Tigers play and take the field defensively," Roof said. "Some of those guys were receivers or scout team offensive tackles or guards that jumped in there and got some reps for us. Our first group played well, though." Playing mostly in the first half, the Tigers' first unit defense held Furman to 59 yards on 28 plays as Auburn held a 42-3 edge at the intermission. "That was where we (first unit defense) needed to go and how we needed to play," Roof added. "Getting a lot of players in during the second half will help us in practice this week. There are things we obviously have to get better at, but we're putting forth the effort." The Tigers will take their customary day off on Monday before returning to the practice fields to resume preparations for the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday. No. 25 Auburn (7-3, 3-3 SEC) takes on Georgia (5-4, 3-3 SEC) in Athens Saturday, Nov. 14. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff from Sanford Stadium and will be carried nationally by ESPN2.
