AUBURN - The No. 24/25 Auburn football took the outdoor practice fields Sunday night for a light practice session. The Tigers (6-3, 4-2 SEC) practiced in helmets and shorts for just under two hours as they began preparations for this Saturday's game at No. 14/16 Georgia (7-2, 5-1 SEC).
Auburn is coming off its off week of the season, taking a break after its Oct. 30 win over Ole Miss, 41-23. The meeting with the Bulldogs is the first of a three-game stretch that includes Samford and No. 4 Alabama, ending the regular season.
After a week off, Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof with pleased with the team's focus and enthusiasm.
"It was good to get back out there on the practice field, there was a lot of excitement and enthusiasm," said roof. "I thought that the attention to detail was good, which is a good step in our preparation for the University of Georgia."
With Monday as the regular off day, Auburn will be back on the field on Tuesday evening to continue preparing for Georgia.
Auburn and Georgia will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT, Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will air live on CBS.
The Oldest Rivalry in the Deep South, Auburn and Georgia will meet for the 115th time on Saturday with the Tigers leading the series, 54-52-8. Auburn holds an 18-11 series advantage when playing in Athens, Ga.
