The Auburn football team held its final practice of the week prior to Saturday's homecoming game against UT Martin, working out for close to an hour and a half at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex Thursday morning.
The Tigers worked out in helmets and shorts in warm and sunny weather, working extensively on special teams before practicing against the scout teams for the remainder of practice.
Following the workout, head coach Tommy Tuberville said the Tigers have had a good week of practice despite having a number of starters who are nursing various injuries.
"Today was a beautiful day for practice," said Tuberville. "It was a good practice. We had a few people out there that are attempting to learn the game plan and might play a few plays, but we have a lot of guys out. Again we haven't had a lot of continuity this week, but it's been the same thing the last couple of weeks.
"The game plan is in. We've expanded our offense a little bit in terms of formations and things we're doing on the running game and passing game. I think Kodi (Burns) has had a real good week throwing the football. I think we're getting better every day. Defensively, we're still concerned about injuries, but all of the coaches have done a good job trying to get guys going."
Auburn (4-5, 2-4 SEC) and UT Martin (7-2, 5-1 OVC) will meet Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT in Jordan-Hare Stadium in the first meeting between the two schools.
Auburn will also be celebrating its 82nd homecoming game and recognizing its class of 16 seniors on Saturday. The seniors will be recognized on the field prior to the game, while the announcement of the Homecoming Queen will take place at halftime. The Tigers have won their last 16 homecoming contests.
